      Tree Removal

Why remove trees? A healthy tree in a good location is a thing of beauty but a dying or hazardous tree looming over your home or property is not only a liability but also a danger to life. We have helped many customers who had large mature trees looming over their house. Before the tree was removed they didn’t feel safe sleeping at night any time there was a wind storm but after it was gone they could sleep like a baby. Is your tree healthy or a hazard? Don’t be deceived by green foliage, if there is structural weakness due to decay or insects, the tree could look beautiful and also be ready to blow over in the next wind storm. There are many good reasons to remove a tree. If the tree is too close to your home the roots could cause damage to your foundation, driveway, or sewer system.

Pine trees leak sap on your vehicles and animals. Large trees drop too many leaves to handle. Nut bearing trees will wake you up at night with unexpected loud bangs as they fall on your roof and vehicles. Maybe you need to remove the tree to make way for a driveway or building. There are cosmetic reasons as well. Lets be honest, some trees are not as appealing to look at as others or don’t match the rest of your landscape. If you love trees like I do there’s still no reason to feel bad for removing a tree. In its place you can plant a new healthier, more beautiful tree that is a better fit for your landscape and can increase your property value while being more appealing to the eyes and that you will enjoy for years to come. If your tree is showing any signs of decline then its better to be safe than sorry and give us a call to inspect it. Because we are a locally owned small business and owner operated I will be happy to discuss with you exactly what your options are for taking care of your tree.

      Tree Trimming

If you have your trees professionally Trimmed/Pruned/Thinned it can increase the health and beauty of your trees, especially if done consistently every 2-3 years. What is our method of Trimming/Pruning/Thinning? Every tree is different and will need assessed individually but there are some common practices. The very first step is to consult with you the customer to see what your primary goals are for this trim job. Is it for the trees health, appearance, making it more manageable, or removing dead hazardous branches? Typically, we start by removing any dead, weak, or crossing branches. Next we either remove or trim back any branches that we foresee becoming a problem in the future. We may do reduction cuts to shorten the length of a branch in order to increase its long-term strength. If branches are growing towards objects such as the home, they may need cut back or they may need a pruning cut that directs growth in a certain direction. The tree may need some thinning out of the inside near the trunk. The final step is more cosmetic, and includes shaping the tree in the most natural way. Because we are owner operated I will be able to trim you trees in the way that was discussed during our consultation.

In some emergency situations we may need to get the tree down safely asap and then come back for cleanup when its convenient.

      Storm Damage: Roof, Siding, Gutters

A tree fell on your house, what’s next? Windstorms in this area are very common. A derecho, or straight-line wind can be short and destructive. If this has caused a tree to fall and you just need cleanup we are here for you. If that fallen tree has landed on your roof or caused any damage to siding or gutter then let me tell you why Pickering Tree Service is the perfect match for you. We have a strategic partnership with a local roofing, siding, and gutter company out of Pickerington called RCS Roofing Columbus and Siding. We are a one stop shop. Not only can we remove the tree from off of your home but we can repair it as well. I am a contracted roofing sales agent and I give free roof inspections. We recently had one customer in Pickerington who I removed a fallen tree for that did no damage to their property. After doing a free roof inspection we learned that the wind not only blew over 2 trees but had also damaged and creased many shingles. These happy customers received a new roof that was paid for by homeowners insurance. Even if you don’t have a tree that needs serviced, if you have noticed shingles blown off of your roof I can still come out to assist.

      • Step 1 – give us a call to schedule a time to come out for a consultation.
      • Step 2 – call your insurance company to file a claim

We will do our best to prioritize you! If there is rain in the forecast and the tree has broken through the shingles and osb/decking board we will need to tarp it up to prevent further damage. We will do our best to work with you and your insurance company to make sure that you get replaced everything that is owed to you by your insurance company. We are on your side. You don’t know what you don’t know about navigating through insurance claims so let us help you out with it.
